Sporting news and nfl.com are cool, I do the money leagues there. Not all states are eligible for prizes so check eligibility rules before signing up.

you mean a live scoreboard of your players??...yes espn does have a scoreboard and it's live as it's happening...real time updates & it's free. No specific service provider needed to play...all you need is an e-mail account to join up for free. Did that answer your question?

I started playing way before it was computerized, we had to have a commissioner adding up points and shit...it was still fun.

You basically are the owner, gm, and coach of your team (AL :mean:) and you pick your players, depending on how the league is set up by positions .

You go head to head with another team in your league. You pick the best players for each position, and every week before the games start, you put in your starters...look for what players have the best matchups, and you get points as they do good in the games. Players from all different teams.

Last year for example my usual line up would be

QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Deangelo Williams
RB: Marion Barber
WR: Randy Moss
WR: Roddy White
Flex Player WR or RB: Reggie Bush
TE: Vernon Davis
Defense: Texans
Kicker: John Carney

I did pretty good, I took 3rd in my espn league.

Hey pushing the draft to September a week or two before the season starts wouldn't be a bad idea.

Injuries happen in pre-season and I'm just saying it would suck to draft a player who gets injured before the season starts. JMO

If you cant do it live, just rank the players you want and it will auto draft for you. I usually do the auto draft.

Basically, you build your team from players already in the NFL. Obviously, you would want your higher scoring players to be drafted first, so you wouldn't go drafting a kicker in round 1. Depending on how many people are in a league, certain players can go in certain rounds. In smaller leagues, running backs almost ALWAYS take up the entire first round (Peterson, Turner, Forte, Westbrook, Gore, MJD, Jackson... you get the point). but at a certain point, all of the real high quality RBs have been drafted and you are left with a choice like lets say Laurence Maroney (i had to make this choice a while ago) and you would opt to go with a star QB or WR instead. Other sitatuions may leave you with a RB that splits time with another good RB (MJD last year, as well as any of our 3 backs ). Check the points scored for players last year, should give you a good idea. Certain players may have not scored high last year, but you may think they will do good this year for some reason (injury last year, contract year, ect). I picked up Carson Palmer in one of my leagues, I'm hoping he gives me a nice season. Then eventually you draft other necessities such as TE, K.
