Russell better get the message that nothing is handed to you in this league, that young mofo better earn his fucking stripes. I started to think, if all this is just speculation, then where the hell is it all coming from?

All I'm saying is stop trying to judge Russell from what you hear from the f*cking media. Have the games started yet? No! When the games start then we will see for ourselves how Russell is doing. It gets me how some fans cry about the media hating on us but as soon as the same media prints some BS everyone jumps on the band wagon. think for yourself people.

I wasn't happy about drafting him, but I have to agree with you. It doesn't matter what anyone writes about him... good or bad. The only thing that matters is how he performs when it counts... and we won't know about that untill September. I'll wait untill then to judge his performance.

^^That's what I'm saying I did not want to draft him or DHB but we did so we just have to hope things work out.:csa:

Russell is like most of the new players; they have to limit the salaries of the rookies. When Sanchez is making more than Tom Brady and he hasn't taken a snap, there are huge probs.
When you are that rich at such a young age; it's hard to be motivated.

Ive been saying that for a while now. When you're made for life before you ever play one down, what's the incentive to do anything?

Word! Russell and Sanchez were both set for life before they took a snap in a real NFL game. Something is wrong with this :shit:.:csa:

How much Russell has improved from the past to now & future NFL games will determine how many NFL games he will be starting instead of Garcia in 2009. If Russell does not live up then I can definitely see Garcia getting starts. He may not have a cannon arm like Russell but with Garcia at least you know what you will be getting from him. However, Garcia thrives in the West Coast Offense & what offensive scheme we have will help determine who gets more starts as well.

I agree with this 110! Whether he comes out and becomes a pro bowler or flops out, either way hes paid. P A I D!!!
Rookies should have most of their contracts incentive based with a rookie cap on base salary depending on 1st round draft order.
Its basically cheating us as fans when or IF the players arent giving 100%, but Ill wait till the season starts and Russell has 4 games to keep me from chanting Garcia...thats just me though. Im sick of losing and being embarrassing every year! If its Garcia or whoever, fuckin win games man!

Unless Russell gets hurt IMO Garcia should not see the field. If he sucks he sucks, he needs to learn from his mistakes. If he gets pulled everytime he screws up he will never learn. He may not even be good enough and we need to find out now instead of down the road.

Pretty much agree with you. We need to see if he is the answer or not...I sometimes get blinded by the costant sucking and losing and would welcome a competent proven QB.

I agree. IMO, if you pull Russell and let Garcia play because Russell is sucking, you just signed his death warrant as the starting QB for the Raiders. Might as well look to dump that salary and go find yourself another QB.

If he can't cut the mustard it's time to move on. :csa:

JaMarcus Russell Follows Through
While ESPN was pretending to “break” the news about Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell missing the final Organized Team Activities session, NFL Network was busy uncovering some real news. NFL Network reported Wednesday that Russell followed through on his promise of assembling some of the Raiders wide receivers for a week of extra practice away from the team’s year-round facility in Alameda, Calif. The NFL Network reported that Russell paid for his receivers to fly to Alabama for the private workout, which still is in progress. Funny how ESPN left out that little tidbit, or didn’t even bother to check into it, because it would have undermined its ability to rip Russell once again. And the “news” of Russell missing the OTA session broke a week or more ago. Give us a week of Russell and his receivers working together away from the distractions of a full-team practice and the prying eyes of the media over one two-hour OTA session any day. The NFL Network report said rookie Louis Murphy, Will Franklin and Todd Watkins are among the receivers who took up Russell on his offer for the opportunity to bond and improve their on-field chemistry. This, indeed, is good news for the Raiders and Raider Nation, as well as a sign that Russell is serious about doing whatever it takes to be more than just a rich NFL player, one who wants also to be a successful NFL quarterback and team leader. The next test comes in training camp, when Russell gets pushed by veteran Jeff Garcia, either in practice, during exhibition games or through more of Garcia’s lobbying for playing time. The news that he has matured into more of a take-charge guy tells us that he is well equipped to handle that challenge and the others certain to confront him on his way to stardom.
