View Full Version : Early Christmas for the Raiders??
When Cable was asked how close McFadden was to starting and carrying the ball more, Cable said, “I’d say pretty close.’’
When it was suggested fans might want to see McFadden get 20 touches a game, Cable said, “I was thinking more touches than that, but if they want 20, we’ll work on it.

Let's all hope so. The best part was him saying 20 touches wasn't enough!

^ Haha that's scanless! but i agree McFadden should definitely be starting & getting more carries then the rest of the backs we have.

Fargas always picks up at least 2 yards by jumping a yard or 2 into the defenders.
Obviously you dont keep your job as coach if you fail to put your second highest paid player on the field regularly. Now here's to seeing if Cable knows how to get the most out of him..

Thank God. Although it was really only a matter of time before Cable realized he simply cannot give Fargas the bulk of the carries. Not if he wants to keep his job, at least.
I want 30+ carries a game for DMC/Bush, RB is our biggest strength why the hell not utilize it, and keep our still-whack defense on the sidelines.

For real, and need to stay fresh and creative about it too. Not WildBass/ SeaCat creative...but creative.:fiesta:

^^ Yeah, have em both on the field at the same time. Plus if Chaz and Miller are making plays in the passing game it's just another element for the defense to account for. You could also have Bush as single back and McFadden in the slot, or bunch formation, etc.
McFadden's 45-yard run in Thursday's exhibition win over the Cowboys might have been a step in that direction.
"That play describes me for this year," he said. "I was a lot more patient on running behind my blocking than I was last year. When the hole opened up, I just hit it."
I like this quote from sfgate article. I remember thinking he was too frantic after the handoff last year. A lot of times he would bounce off the guards back and get tripped up, or not allow the blocks to develop and only get two or three yds because he tried to outrun his path..

A lot of this is going to rely on how the o-line performs. Fargas is the best blocker of the three RB's, so he'll see more time when teams are cruising past the right side of our line. I would still start Bush and use McFadden as a playmaker/change of pace type of back. I still haven't seen McFadden prove he's expanded his skill set, even on that 45 yard run (he showed poor breakaway speed on that play which is exactly what he showed last year, that's a touchdown for another guy with his speed).

Crazy cuz I don't know how many times I've said the same thing. Make the defense account for your players and something will open up! I know our coaches can't be that stupid....can they??

The DB took a great anlge, but I was expecting a TD as well.

Yeah I was shocked that he didn't have that extra gear that I feel he has. Fargas is the best blocker so Mcfadden and Bush is going to have to show that they can block as well in order for them to play alot more than Fargas does.

yeah but the difference between fargas and mcfadden is thats not a 45ard run with Fargas more like 10-15 and thats being pretty generous because i dont even think fargas would have been able to make that cut back in the hole.

Exactly, I love how people are nitpicking about this. And also the one drive when Russell got sacked on 1st down, it was 2nd and 21. A simply handoff to McFadden made it a much easier 3rd and 8, whereas handing it to Fargas in that spot probably makes it 3rd and 19.
RB is the least of our worries.
Hell yeah McFadden needs to touch the ball more. I like how he chooses his holes. He's dangerous when he's in there.

Yea he is but he still needs to block better. I really thought that was going to be a touchdown but I'll rather him be close to a touchdown than close to 3 yards on a run play like Cough Fargas Cough.

he did have a nice block pick up on that Russell 17/18 yd run. it was what actually sprung Jruss.
anybody got the scoop on oren oneal?

read hes back to form, cutting and running etc..
RB is not of concern. It would be awesome to see Darren get 20 touches a game. I'm more concerned with the right side of our line not getting much push or protecting well. Pears+green =white dog poop and carlisle is past his prime.

Yeah, I believe when Barnes got hurt that kind of fucked up our plans since whoever lost the battle at LT between him and Henderson was suppose to move to RT. Henderson has been playing well at LT so I wouldn't of moved him anyway though and Barnes wasn't comfortable playing RT.

I questioned why the Raiders did not draft a G to mold to seat Cralisle...I saw his play go downhill last year. We can probably call the game against the Skins a loss now with how shitty the run d will be and how weak Carlisle will be against Haynesworth.
I reccomend no one go see that nightmare in person. It's going to be ugly.

How about worrying about Jamal Williams first. Dude is aging but he is still good.
The interior line has a lot to prove but so do our tackles... The oline does not look like a strong unit... Again.

Raiders are going to be in trouble with Carisle starting. I was hoping M. Johnson would get some first team reps in there at RG. P. MCQ would prob do a better job at holding his own there then Carlisle.
I am going to get wasted for the MNF opener just in case I need to forget the night. One thing that is good is that the ZBS is good to use against the 3-4. Except Merriman is back. I hope Fargas or Bush knocks his teeth out like MJD did a couple years ago.
Fuggin classic. That was the year after his steroid campaign. If you look at his 2006 season pic, and compare it to 2007, it's hilarious. His shoulders and neck are HUGE...

This is the Chargers last time to do something cause they cannot re-sign most of their players next year. They drafted Larry English to replace Merriman and he knows it.

This is what bothers me about Cable he seems to lack common sense at times. He did the same thing last season with Harris and Henderson.

That's probably isn't true, since McQuistan stinks and only gets hype because he has a mullet.
