Wale (who reps Washington D.C.) this dude is a beast. If you into rap period you need to check on this dude's word play. This song is getting heavy spins in the bay.

Props for the Kut Klose sample "I am"

And its pronounce Wall-Aye not Wale for some of you bums out there :)

This song is raw.

Respect. Just out of curiousity then who would you have as leading the East back to respectability in the rap game as of now? NY rap is dead. NJ rap is dead. Hell other than the South rap is dead period. Im rep CA and I have no idea who is the next champ to even come from outta my region.

Honestly?

Rap is dead in my book, even in the south that shit gonna come to a close soon IMO. Ain't nobody bringing it back dawg.

And Wale got that southern sound. He ain't really an east coast type mc.

I understand shit ain't supposed to stay the same and that a lot of folks do music to be prgressive, and that's cool.

But hip hop lost its magic for me. It just ain't the same.

No arguments here brah. It makes me sick and I mean terminally ill that my kids have to grow up looking at wierdos like Lil Wayne and Kanye West and shit. And let the record state, I like Wayne and Ye music wise but the crap they have been putting out as of late has even been pure cow crud.

Kanye with his 4 sizes too small jeans, mohawks, and what ever else is obsessed with Euro sounded music and voice boxes.

And Wayne who sags while wearing skinny jeans is on some ole punk runk earing in the lip, I wanna kiss a man type music.

And whats sad is if you go to any high school or mall guess what? The youngstas are obsessed with the music and the new weirdo look.

Mohawks. Tight Jeans. Tight shirts. Goofy glasses.

And this is hot? This is what is hot???

Never.

I grew in when OGz on my block was bumpin' Freaky Tales from Too $hort. We was all about hustling and bitches in CA. Thats it period. No metero sexualisms. Bums going to get they ear brows arch and at the nail shop more than chicks.

Exactly why I ain't having no more kids (knock on wood).

Hip Hop and Earth is over.

Being in the Rap biz myself, I cannot dispute this at all. I grew up when rap was the greatest, and to see it get shit on today is disgusting.

I think Lil Wayne and TPain have single handedly ruined hip hop...honorable mention to Kanye with his 80s Bobby Brown New Edition afro mullet.

Look for rap to take a look where it never really has...Us latin artists have flown under the radar for years, and theres some dope ones out there that never get any recognition.

My homie Lunch Meat from Diego (black dude) is pretty dope...he stayed with us down here after doing a bid in our County.

Excellent, A+ breakdown Pastor Poke.

I'm an '84 cat so I'm not exactly old school, but I look at the youngstas now and I just shake my head. I am on a complete Lil Wayne boycott until he reverts back to "Tha Block Is Hot" status, and that is not happening. Same with Kanye, when he first started producing with the ROC I loved his shit. But he's getting a little to weird for my liking, with that God-damn voice box and his pink sunglasses and goofy outfits and whatnot.

I'm so disappointed with music in general nowadays and I'm totally out of the loop. This cutie at the front desk of my work was like OHMYGOD THE BRITNEY SPEARS CONCERT LAST WEEK WAS FUCKING AMAZING!!!! Straight up, I had no fuckin idea she was back in business. I thought she was the same crackpot, shaving her head, walking around barefoot, kids in a foster home type looney she's been lately.....but now she's back???? I had no clue.

Hip-hop was still decent back when I first started high school at the end of the 90's and start of the millenium. Redman and Method Man dropped Blackout, Slick Rick came out the pen and The Art of Storytelling was great, Xzibit had some good shit, Chronic 2001 came out, Bone Thugs was still doin it, D.I.T.C. dropped a killer album.....but that's about it.

90's hip-hop will never be duplicated. It's all Soulja Girl and his bubble-gum, teeny bopper music that that has exactly ZERO concrete meaning and/or message. Just terrible. Big L must be spinning in his grave.

Wale alright. This song ain't that hot tho.

On some real shit, it's kinda sad that Hip Hop music is so diluted. Still, it makes finding the good music that more refreshing.

From the east coast, i still love the L.O.X./D-Block fam. Styles P gets heavy play. Check out Get My Paper (http://limelinx.com/files/3659c20990611c34d5eeb4dea131b349) from his latest mixtape Phantom Empire (http://thats-word.blogspot.com/2009/03/styles-p-phantom-empire.html). Jada's new album just came out and it's pretty sick. Sheek's no slouch either.

Nobody like Joell Ortiz? He's a fucking monster from NY. Ghost & Rae are doing OB4CL2 and shit sounds sick. Red & Meth are comin' out with Blackout 2, tho the tracks i've heard have been more... radio. Can't believe nobody is up on Mos Def's album comin' out. He's still one of the hardest out. Mos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib8Nlb4nf7k) is better than (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bbBuL2ewRc) Wayne & Jay-Z (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG-I2aCgFjw)

From the south, u can never go wrong with UGK. UGK 4 Life is a fucking classic, forreal. Been listening to it the past 3-4 days. Not sure if you'd call NC south but Phonte & Big Pooh (whose album just came out) are leaking things here and there & their shit is always good imo.

Midwest don't get a lot of love. Ye's shit is hit or miss depending on the individual. I liked 808's (went thru some shit myself) and i can't front, for a radio type of album, Com's shit was dope. It's too bad Flesh-N-Bone went back to jail but Krayzie Bone's Fixtape Vol. 2 is loaded with street anthems.

Seeing as that i'm from the west, i can just throw out a plethora of names. New cats like Pac Div, Jay Rock, Nipsey Hu$$le are taking over. FAB rockin' shit in the bay. Ya Boy, tho he's kinda on the wannabe Wayne rock star tip, can still beat up a mic. Kurupt still doing his shit, and i can't wait for that collab album with Quik. You got Crooked I still beasting. Terrace Martin makin' hot shit & givin' props to the OGs.

Diggin' is just a whole diff thing now, imo.

Haha, i can dig it.

Would love to see Mos v. Jay-Z tho. Would be epic + good for Hip Hop. Raise the bar on these snappin' ass, saran wrap tight legged wearin, rainbow colored, takin' more time in the mirror than a female, fugaizee ass so called "rappers".

Good breakdown gridiron. I never discriminate between "sides" or "regions," if it sounds hot I'll listen to it. I don't care if they're from NY or Wyoming.

I don't have a favourite style and I really dig the stuff from all over the place, it just depends on what I'm in the mood for. I hit "shuffle songs" on Windows Media Player and sit back and enjoy it.
