View Full Version : Trade winds will tempt Raiders
This is a pretty interesting read.

The Raiders have never been shy about making deals at draft time, whether it be with picks or players on the current roster.
Last season, Oakland dispatched the No. 104 and No. 213 picks to move up four spots and take Tyvon Branch at No. 100. They dealt cornerback Fabian Washington for a fourth-round pick which turned out to be wide receiver Arman Shields.......

My biggest concern is whether Bush will be a Raider in 2009 or not. I think he will be a great RB, and despite reports that he will be he for sure I just can't help to be still worried.

I love watching Bush run, he just "glides".

He does bring in his own style of running, but if we end up loosing Bush somehow... It'll definitly be our lose and not his. Keep Bush and McFadden, Fargas can be dealt.

Great players score TOUCHDOWNS. They move the ball on a consistent basis. They make plays week in and week out. Bush had a decent year. Showed some flashes that he's a capable back but nothing more than that. He can find the hole and make good cuts. He's elusive for a big guy. But he doesn't use his size. Doesn't play with power. Like him better than Darren though.
NOBODY besides Zach Miller showed up on offense every week and made plays. Not Higgins, McF, or Russell. So imo, proclaiming Bush to be GREAT is over the top. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I like a lot of our young guys but I don't think Chaz is automatically destined for greatness. Zach Miller is very productive and he hasn't even reached that status. Bush may compare a little to Tyrone but he hasn't shown more than a few flashes that he is anywhere near his level.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I think there is a stark difference between thinking someone will be a great back one day, and proclaiming them a great back. There was no proclamation, just a statement of opinion on Bush's future.

The major problem for our offense last season was the OFFENSIVE LINE! Without a decent OL your offense won't work. Your QB does not have the time to throw and your RB's have no where to run.

Keep Bush. Fargas and McFadden have both had injury problems, and we ended our season relying on bush. if we trade bush, and fargas gets injured (very likely) along with mcfadden (possibly), we will be left with rankin. Rankin isn't bad, but we have hardly seen anything from him besides a few preseason games, and that is not enough to proclaim him as a good RB. If anything, trade Walter, Huff, ect. for some late round picks

I'm thinking your missing a big word, THINK. So that whole post toward me, was pointless. Cause I never proclaimed it. lol
Not saying he plays with a lot of power, but he does have some.

Just a thought, if Bush had have never had that big run at the end with brooks limping down to chase him...
Would you still call that a great game in tampa? and a great season?

If we lost? No not a great game, if we won yes.
Great season? A losing record is never good in my book.
You can say Brooks was limping, the fact was that happens and Bush broke a tackle in the backfield anyway.
Bush had 95 carries for 421 yards being the third player on the depth chart.. That's pretty good, considering very limited time. I'm not saying that he's the next Bo Jackson, but Bush has great upside to him.

I'm in opposition to trading M. Bush. McFadden is still unproven and Fargas has been proven to be limited. Even tho we know we have a "running game", we're still not sure who can really shoulder the load for the long haul.
Bush got handled by Buffallo and another team, I think. All he could do was make short yardage on screens.
TB was a difficult measure because they had thrown in the towel weeks before.
What I liked the most from that game, was that Bush at one point got hammered so hard, he had no idea what was going on so he ran to the sideline. They had no one to sub for him, so he went back out there and then punched one in...Thats when I became a Bush fan...
HE still has a lot to learn in terms of pass protection and using his blockers appropriately. He lacks the lateral-then-cut fast footwork that the zbs demands

I'm not a Mike Bush jocker like many others but I really think we should keep him. I mean what are we going to get for him anyway, a 4th round pick? Besides, Fargas and McFadden are not exactly beacons of good health, RB is our strongest position why mess with a good thing? If Arizona wants to trade Anquan for him straight up then by all means, but nothing like that is going to happen.
As for the draft, this should be very interesting. Cleveland is still shopping Quinn and Edwards, so if they trade Braylon don't be surprised if they grab Crabtree....if he's even there. I really don't think he will fall to us so the Raji-or-Crabtree debate might not even be an issue.

Well to defend Bush the offense had no creativity and it was just dives the whole time. And the line was horrible.
