cuz Seymour knows the deal, that's why. He knows if he doesn't sign a multi-year deal with the Raiders, then he's gonna be franchise tagged. He also knows he's getting up there in age, & that his last big pay day will come from the Raiders. He knows that if he gets franchise tagged this season & becomes a free agent again after this season than his value will be even less. So, he may as well sign here & now. He'll get more money this way & more security.
It ain't cuz Seymour loves being a Raider. Nobody likes losing & playing for a laughing stock of a franchise. Seymour has always been about money & winning.

Plus the potential work stoppage in 2 years, he might as well get paid now

Yeah pretty much. Seymour wants to get paid and if he plays his cards right Al will give him a big deal, he almost has to. He knows Al gave up a lot to get him and doesn't want to lose him, but he also surely doesn't wanna be stuck getting tagged.
So all Seymour has to do is tell Al he likes it here.....that he grew up a Raider fan, that he wants to be the next great Raider. At the same time though, at least he is worth it....I don't care if the numbers don't necessarily reflect it, he made an impact.

Seymore came to Oakland kicking and screaming the entire way..his 2 week AWOL status before opening day proved that he was looking for any loop hole he could..Billicheck sold him down the River to Al.. Seymore might as well get paid now..Al will take care of ya..then after you retire I'm sure you will talk as much shit as Warren Sapp LOL..can't really blame ya there..Sapp came willingly wanting to soak & bask in the very thing he trashes and talks shit about now.. Seymore has been politically correct the entire time..Less than happy with the shitty team that he has landed on. I agree with Buck..his numbers didn't always show it..but he did make a definite impact and showed some leadership..even though he had some meltdowns in some key games. Seymore clearly wants to win, but he realizes things are fucked in Oakland. Hopefully his career with the Raiders doesn't tarnish his over all career as being a great Defensive lineman and perhaps Hall of Famer.
