View Full Version : Russell Being Treated For Substance Addiction
Got this from another forum....
JR has been at a clinic being treated for lethargy addiction, as some Raider fans know, JR has been addicted to a southern concoction known as "sizzurp" or "purple drink", this may cause his lethargicness - and he was ADDICTED to this stuff ..
You can take this information in 2 ways:
1. The Raiders are slowly leaking this information out to the public, having sat on it for a good 6 months - meaning the Raiders aren't happy with his progress or lack thereof, having cause to cut him if and when the time comes, and they'll make it so that it is hard for him to sign with other teams.
2. This may be a sign that JR wants to turn this thing around, how far he wants to go, is up to him.

#1 makes sense to me and sounds "Raider-like"
#2 I think is more likely that Russell is either being told he needs to do this, or is finally a little scared of losing his big contract.
How much is coming from him I dunno. In a perfect world, this is all him and that would be a good sign. Reality though tells me that it's not likely coming from him as much as it's coming from the team.
Such massive problems going on in Russell, and the Raiders by proxy.
Not just laziness with work ethic, bad mechanics, weight struggles, and team/fans against him, but also a substance addiction.
I don't see it turning around as a partnership.

Or maybe Russell, rumored to have spent part of the offseason at a clinic being treated for lethargy addiction, shows up for minicamp weighing 230 sculpted pounds and ready to work twice as hard as anyone else in the building. Sorry, didn't mean to make you blow coffee out your nose first thing in the morning — just trying to cover all bases.
I'm pretty sure this was a joke.

Now where have I heard that before??
I can certainly see Al angling to get some money back on the addiction. If there is no such clause against the use of illicit drugs in his contract, well, that would be pretty Raider like, but there's got to be something about being addicted to performance preventing narcotics....
If Jamarcus really does want to turn it around, blah blah blah....I say...FUCK YOU, too late Fats Domino

when is enough, enough? JaMarcus has done everything you can do wrong as a #1 pick QB. His whole situation has been handled wrongly by the Raiders. JaMarcus has handled himself all wrong. His career is in the shitter right now. It's too many problems to mention with JaMarcus....we all know what's been going on. We all know his shortcomings on the field. I can't understand why he's still on this team. JaMarcus is hopeless. The Raiders would be wise to release JaMarcus right now. JaMarcus is a 100 Million pound weight, just pullling this franchise down with him. He's just stealing all the life outta this team. It ain't just JaMarcus though, Al has a part in it too. Because Al keeps this kid around.

Russell isn't going to get any better.. His rookie year he was here he was benched to supposedly ease him into the league and still he ain't shit.. He has to go period! I say let's go back to the drawing board and start with another QB. Besides, he doesn't have the intelligence to be an NFL QB IMHO. I heard a few years back that he didn't do so good in an IQ test.

Muh favorite QB was ALWAYS Warren Moon, Get Ovah It!!!!!!!
Russell had red flags.
1. Coming overweight to the combine.
2. His talk about how much he wants to go #1 for the money (sure people will feel that way deep down, but he was upfront about it, shamelessly so).
3. Kiffin hated his pro-day workout, can tell from his gruff phiz and body language, he wasn't very accurate on his pro-day, had terrible footwork.
4. Bill Parcels analysis of Russell pre-draft which slammed him hard as a bust, wouldn't make it in the NFL.
Post-Draft:-
1. The record long holdout
2. Coming to the Raiders eventually again more overweight.
3. The early rumors how he hadn't even learned the playbook during that time.
4. All the bling and fur and focus on image and dress.
That was all season 1.
Btw, I was one of if not the first to declare B.Gradkowski AND Frye would be a better QB, that they would actually get drives going, factor the WRs in, generate yards/TDs, and that we should bench Russell after the Charger week 1 game. I got mocked on JerryMac for it, but the proof is in the pudding, and since then every man and his dog now says they were right about Gradkowski/Frye.
Just a pat on the back there for myself seeing as no one else will give me one! lol.

REALLY?
He was working as a part-time analyst on NBC or Fox or ESPN or one of those networks. Or he just spoke about it briefly when discussing Dolphins football for that season. I cant remember the "where" of it. But he said he was far too overweight, had terrible footwork and mechanics, and the wrong mind-set to make it in the NFL, that it was very clear to him.

Anyways, if my memory serves me correctly, you were probably the last person on this site still blindly defending this piece of shit and poor excuse for a NFL QB. Nice to see you finally come around and admit to what most of us have been saying for years about Russell.
You can tell Kiffin and Al warred on the QB depth chart early. Every week was about Kiffin saying McCown gives us the best chance to win, and McCown WAS a terrible QB. That Al was pushing to have Russell just start early. But we're in his season 4 already and he still cant run many plays out of the playbook.
Probably the same thing has happened with Cable-Davis re: Heyward-Bey. With the exception of Cable not fighting Davis about it, but did the opposite, granted Al his wish and THEN got his way after proving DHB wasn't ready still.
I have a feeling tho that Hue Jackson is getting his way, has come in with a fine-tooth comb and is going to fix the offense, starting with personnel.

That is so not true.... Kiffin was wowed by Russells pro day.... Sure, he mentioned his footwork but when it came to his arm and making all the throws he was amazed..
Mike Mayock also said that Russell had one of the best pro days he ever saw.
Bill Parcells detracting is hardly what I call a red flag... that is an opinion of one man, that doesn't constitute a red flag. In fact, if you go back over drafts and scouting, everybody constant across the board in praise of a certain player is more of a red flag than anything.
So, the red flags were trivial ones... Every team behind AL DAVIS was going to take a long hard look and was itching to squeeze the trigger on Russell had he slipped.
Another red flag was that Russell was not a first round mock until after his bowl game. Before then, and much of the season, he was a mid-late round mock.
Also, Kiffin did hate Russell's pro-day. You can tell from his body language. That's a dead giveaway.
Also someone used to post on RF who was a circle of friend of Kiffin, often PMing me info back then, why i was warring with wdr at the time, cos of false info. What was his name? wizard something or other.

Joke or no joke,Its as simple as this with me.
Its VERY rare for me to miss Raider games but I'm prepared to NOT watch a single Raider game this coming season if JaMarcus Russell starts at QB.It will be a first for me but thats how its going to be if that happens. Now me not watching won't hurt the Raiders pockets but I will no longer force myself to watch bullshit that I really don't feel like watching and mainly watch a QB that will be out of the league in 3 years or sooner depending how long we continue to carry his useless ass when I know he isn't putting in work to help us win. I'm comfortable enough with Bruce or any other QB that is decent enough to take care of the football, feel the rush coming and put some points on the board.

Your right I did defend this motherfucker until I saw the light. Being A Raider fan I have defended a lot of bums over the last seven seasons. The point I'm trying to make when I say "he did not draft himself" is this. Most NFL teams have a GM who takes care of the draft and is responsible for everything draft related so when they do draft a player they have done their homework. We have Al who does his own thing and drafts who he wants for what ever reason. This has not been working as we can all see by now. So when we end up with stiff after stiff instead of going through a long story about each bum I just say "he did not draft himself". He is still a bum, I'm not cutting him any slack, I'm just saying the reason this clown is on our team is because we drafted him.

This draft year could be different. We may have a good one. The draft format has changed. Now the draft is 3 days long, starting with the first round on prime time, with the other rounds the following days. I heard Mike Mayock talk about how changing the draft format could enable the bad drafting teams to make better picks, because they can take it one day at a time & be able to reset their draft boards each day.

I'll still be watching the draft just cos it's interesting drama, even tho Al has a habit of aggravating us like the Jets used to so regularly do with their fans. That's what we've become under Al-the-GM, the new 'lol-jets' drafters.

He was NEVAH that way:nono:
Just goes to show how karma bites when you BS the fans, and BS yourself, and always try to play iraqi minister of defense spin-doctor, "everything's fine, we have great players, everyone is working together, shut up norcal fans, and buy tickets, and merchandise, everything is under control"
