View Full Version : Raiders Targeting DHB

The Raiders are "locked in" on Maryland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, according to the National Football Post.
Heyward-Bey passes Al Davis' speed test, Oakland is desperate for a vertical threat in the passing game, and he's going to be there at No. 7 overall. Ideally the Raiders would trade back a few spots and still land DHB, but Davis may not want to take that risk. Davis also has no history of trading down. Apr. 24 - 12:13 pm et

I'd love to trade down to the middle, get an extra 2nd, and/or 3rd. Perhaps something early next year also.....

Trade down to #20, and pick up #33 as well.....and a pick next year. Bey will be there at 20.

We'd have picks 20, 33, and 40. If not something better.....

You would think someone would want to jump up to #7. I do not see Raiders moving down tho.

That would not be the Raider way Tooz, we take what we want! F**k trading down and getting the player we want and more picks. We are the Raiders and we don't do what makes sense we do things the Raider way. Who needs a GM?

Is trading down with Denver a possibility then, since they want Sanchez so much?

We can get their 12 and 18 for their 7,

How about we do the smart thing and Pick Raji at 7 and trade our 2nd to Ari for Boldin maybe even throw in Fargas. Ari is only asking for a 2nd now and our 2nd is better than the eagles, Jets, Giants!!!!

who cares how fast Bey can run; how did he play?

The NFL combines making avg. players millionaires; the best line,"Bey didn't put up great numbers in college and really never played that great but he ran a great 40 at the combines and he's big".

OMG
Exactly; translation,"He may not be a good football player, but what an athlete.'

stop the madness! no to DHB

I'm still have ringing in my ears with those people with man crushes on Vernon Gholston who already they were calling one of the biggest busts for the Jets in years. The combines mean nothing; what did they do on the field.

What did his QB do on the field???

DHB had one of the worst passing offenses in College and still produced......also rushed for 200 + on 14 carries.....mainly reverses/end arounds. Has good hands and fights for the ball.

Though again I only make this move if have some pick in late 1st....not at 7.

he will not get past the giants in round 1...
the giants are even trying to trade up to lock him up...

i would be happier with maclin because he is more polished

but if crabtree isnt there i wont be that pissed if dhb is picked up

Your right, my bad....I meant later in round 1. If by some way in nfl heaven that we could trade down, pick up some extra picks and still get DHB, cool.

you cant hate on DHB. While #7 is about 10 spots too high for him, he will change the dynamic of our offense big time...WE HAVE NO LEGIT DOWNFIELD THREAT. DHB will force the secondary to back up, regardless of his hands.

Good speed, good size, decent hands, minimal college production? We have him.

Chaz Schilens.

Crabtree or no WR in the first, for me. We need a legitimate number 1 wideout.

Like hell I can't. I would absolutely, unquestionably HATE the pick. In fact it would probably ruin my weekend and if I weren't going to be a friend's house for a gathering I would definitley break the remote control after hearing we took this guy. It would be even worse than taking Troy Williamson 7th overall, because at least that guy put up huge numbers with shitty QBs at South Carolina.

The Raiders are the only team on the planet that would consider this guy with a top 10 pick.

troy williamson is like maclin. I don't want DHB that high either but he's a fine prospect.

I tell you what-Maclin is going to bust or not be as productive as Crabtree, DHB, Nicks, or Robiskie.

Maclin plays like a pussy and probably is one. I don't want that guy on my team. He shy's away from contact and plays to not get hit.

DHB is an intriguing prospect as he possesses great vertical leaping ability and could grow into a fine deep threat. He is 6'3 too, so that helps too. He has the ability to take it to the house at all times. Will not be surprised if he's the pick...they did fly out to Maryland to see him.

Unless the Raiders aren't doing what they've done for two years now (worked out players they drafted like Russell & Mcfadden), I fully expect the Raiders to take DHB.

However, it will be very interesting if Crabtree is there at 7

Would also love to explore the option of the Bills and picks 11 and 28......any realistic possibility Raji/Orakpo would be there at 11, and Bey at 28??? Damn we need another late 1st or early 2nd.....

I also wonder if Michael Bush will still be bait tomorrow....???

Who wants Fargas? I mean he has a lot of heart - runs right into people - a great Raider - but jeez who's going to give more than a 5th or 6th for him?

more and more are reporting

Darrius Heyward-Bey-WR- Player Apr. 25 - 12:31 pm et

Profootballtalk.com passes along "word on the street" that the Raiders will draft Darrius Heyward-Bey seventh overall.
Al Davis wants another Cliff Branch and Heyward-Bey possesses the best combo of size and speed at receiver in this draft. Jeremy Maclin might make more sense to most, but not to Davis. DHB is a tenth of a second faste
