View Full Version : Donovan & Asante to Oakland?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/25/first-rumbles-of-mcnabb-to-raiders-trade-terms-emerge/
Per the tip -- uncorroborated but nevertheless intriguing -- McNabb and cornerback Asante Samuel would go to Oakland, and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha would go to Philadelphia.

Damn if it happens I will miss Asomugha's presence, although Asante is a pretty good CB. But will we be giving up any draft picks?
Sounds too good to be true....Nnamdis contract is loaded. Theyd have to want some type of pick?

Its happening...any denial of the report means it is goin down.

Several executives on other clubs pointed to the Raiders as being in the heaviest pursuit, although two unnamed team executives told the Oakland Tribune on Thursday that they weren't aware of any calls to the Eagles about McNabb.

LOL, YEP!..........and there it is
Look as long as we DON'T give up ANY draft picks, I'm cool with this deal. McNabb has maybe 3-5 good years left and Samuel, although not as good as Nnamdi in coverage, is still PRETTY DAMN GOOD and he's a ballhawkin muthafucker. The way I look at it, we get two VERY good players for an excellent player. We're more than just one excellent cornerback away from winning right now...............DO IT!!!!

( shaking my head)..wtf?..lol every mutherfuckin offseason especially pre DRAFT they have Oakland making some Blockbuster deal..which never comes to light..dont get me wrong Al does bring in Marqui Vets..the problem being they treat Oakland as a retirement home ( see Moss..see Sapp)they collect one hell of a Pension plan and golden parachute....McNabb aint coming here..Period..even if the Money is right..he already got paid well as an Eagle..Mcnabb would get McBUSTED with our Oline..and then once again RAIDER NATION is MCFUCKED LOL and we will have tha JA-BURGERKING under center..

thats an excellent point. A blanket cover corner on a crap team will only get you so far. I say do it.

We don't even put Aso on the number one reciever at times, the guy is great, but a QB is obviously where more valuable.

Mcnabb already stated he wants to go to a contender. I doubt this happens. Im sure theres draft picks that Al would have to give up as well.

Doubt it happens, but I would do it. I love Nnamdi, but Asante is a really good corner, and he MAKES PLAYS. Nnamdi just shuts down half the field, so he never gets any turnovers. Asante is good for at least 8 picks.

Asante will get challenged far more than Asomugha, no doubt about it.

Yeah that sounds too good to be true. Aso is a great, GREAT playuh, but we've been through this before....he's not helping us win games and he makes $16 mil per year. Plus he's easily our most valuable trade asset, so IF we can get McNabb and a more than adequate replacement at CB for Nnamdi you do it NOW!
Seems like rumah mongering at it's finest, but if it's true it's a no-brainah!

NO on Asante Samuel, he would be just another DeAngelo Hall.
Playing in fire zones (Philly) & in multiple coverages (New England) are different than the defense Al Davis runs out here, which is man-to-man and Asante would be all alone on an island.
Asante is good for 8 picks when there is a man look/ zone d with exotic pressure ALL GAME like in Philly..
Or a very disciplined zone defense like in NE...
they will test Asante in what is essentially a Man 1 scheme all game long... just like they did Hall..
Hall was a slightly overrated DB but when he went to Washington he went from awful to a good CB again..
This shit is broken...
And this shit aint happening anyway... who cares.

Hall still sucks, he gets burnt every play Dan Snyder was a fool for giving him all that loot last offseason.
And where there's smoke, there's FIYAH! The Eagles can't bring him back now, their relationship was already fragile now Andy Reid tells the world they've shopped him....and sure he might not wanna come to Oakland, but money talks. Al doesn't pay coaches but best believe he pays his playuhs. Nnamdi is making $16 mil a year, Tommy Kelly got a $50 million extension, we have $10 mil a year tied up in our kickers for fuck sake!

Donovan F. McNabb is on the "downslope" of his career, and right now we don't have the type of team that can hold him up. He doesn't fit what we claim we want to do. I'd rather have a more mobile, hungrier to prove & win, Michael Vick, than McNabb. As bad as we are. We don't need anyone else throwing up in the Coliseum.

Vick to the Raiders = half of Berkeley at the Coliseum tying ropes to the concrete walls and building homes.

Vick is overrated dude. Why do you think no one has stepped up with a good enough offer for him? Because he's not a good QB. Never a good passer.
McNabb is light years ahead of him even in this stage of his career. But first things first, and that's addressing the OL. However, I doubt anything happens. Eagles respect McNabb enough not to trade him to Oakland.

lol...... I agree with most of your post except for Vick. Dont think he's that good of a QB, not good of pocket passer and his legs will only get him so far.

I'm fine with Asante...just think if Philly had Aso/Asante...shit they could easily mix Aso anywhere, they could even put him at safety if they wanted to...too bad Al isn't fucking smart enough to do that!
