As far as actual Raiders developments, there were three Tuesday:

-- An unnamed team has offered the Raiders a second-round pick this year and a first-round pick next year in exchange for the Raiders' No. 8 overall pick, a league source said. That deal would allow the Raiders to get back in the 2011 first round after giving their pick to the Patriots in the Seymour deal.

If this is true, we gotta do it. This is too good to pass up. I like having 2nd round picks this year & our 2011 1st rounder back. Here's why...

1. Al drafts for shit in round 1, & there's a couple Al type players lurking that scare me. (Jason Pierre-Paul, Bruce Campbell, Taylor Mays, & Carlos Dunlap)

2. I only like a few players that are top 10 worthy, & we aren't gonna take any of them anyway. (see reason number 1)

3. 2nd round picks are cheaper than a 1st round top 10 pick. Why waste the money in a top 10 bust like we usually do? We usually draft better after round 1.

4. I like the 2nd round talent. I'm more intrigued with the 2nd round talent than I am with the 1st round.

5. We're gonna go 4-12 or 5-11 again in 2010. So why not get our 1st round pick back? We're gonna need it. Hopefully Al is dead by the time that draft rolls around, so we can pick a FOOTBALL PLAYER, not a GREAT PLAYUH.

6. I always thought that Seymour trade was foolish, & the fact that he got Franchise Tagged this year instead of signed to longer term deal just strengthened that belief.

7. JaMarcus is fuckin' through in this town! His ass is gone come 2011, or sooner. There will be some nice QB's declaring in 2011. ( Ryan Mallett, Jake Locker)

It would be a complete shock to me if Al Davis trade down and if it happens I wouldn't be against it.

Depends on who the team is that is offering the pick......

if it is a team likely to pick high I would do it because next years draft is going to be 1 - deep and 2 - the picks will have extremely high value, especially at the top of the round because there will be a rookie salary cap structure in place......

And this means we virtually got Seymour in a steal...

Definitely would do it... This draft is pretty deep for O-Line which we need.. But the good T's are going to fly off the board early..

I'm with Bump on this one...depends on who the team is and where you project that pick to be next year. If they sweetened the deal with another lower round pick this year, say a 5th or maybe a player we could use, I'd be into it for sure....

I do agree the top 10-15 picks are rich in talent and even the Riaders would have a hard time f*cking it up this year.

If Al didn't trade down before he won't do it now. You just have to hope we get 1 starter and 1 contributor. The rest are track stars and under performers.

If the Raiders don't draft Campbell he will most likely drop into the second round and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being our pick in the 2nd if it happens.

Raiders' first pick in demand

As the Raiders reportedly look to trade for another veteran Pro Bowler, they are getting every opportunity to get back the premium pick they traded away in a similar deal last year.

An unnamed team has offered the Raiders a second-round pick this year and a first-round pick next year in exchange for the Raiders' No. 8 overall pick. (Well, the team has a name, but our league source wouldn't share).

That deal would allow the Raiders to get back in the 2011 first round after giving their pick to the Patriots in the Richard Seymour deal. (Lockout or not, there will be a draft next year, reportedly).

At least one other team has offered to swap spots with the Raiders. Perhaps this is evidence that the 2010 class is as good as advertised. People actually want back in the top-10 again.

So why haven't the Raiders bit?

The Raiders simply do not have a history of trading down from its first-round perch. They'll trade the spot away for a star player (Seymour, Randy Moss) but Raiders owner Al Davis doesn't have a track record of moving down the order for another pick.

So what does this have to do with Donovan McNabb?

According to reports, the Eagles would want a top-42 pick for McNabb. The Raiders currently pick 39th in the second round. Let's assume that's what it would take.

If the Raiders were to accept the aforementioned draft trade, here's what it could mean: they could give Philly their No. 39 pick, then use the other team's second-round pick in April. And, instead of picking No. 8 overall in this draft, they'd have a first-round pick in next year's draft. Nothing lost, just deferred.

Whatever the case with McNabb, if the Raiders want to trade their way back into the 2011 first round, they have been given at least one opportunity to do so.

** All this reminded me of the last time Davis spoke, after the Seymour trade. A reporter started to ask his thoughts of a rookie scale in 2011 even though he wouldn't have a pick in the class, when Davis got a bit agitated.

"Don't say we won't pick in 2011. You're wrong, you're wrong, didn't the 49ers take the first with Staley and the next year didn't they do it again this year? So don't make statements."

** He said something else that could apply to these "alleged" talks with the Eagles. By giving up a first-round pick for a player in the last year of his contract, Davis suggested he was willing to do whatever it takes to get the player he wants.

"Sometimes you've got to overpay to get what you want," Davis said in September. "But I didn't overpay. I don't think that's overpaying at all. Sometimes you have to, you don't always win the battle, the idea is to get the player."

So, if McNabb is the player he wants to get, he will get him soon enough.

** One more thing: wonder why the Raiders haven't leaked a word on this McNabb story?

"It's usually a conversation with me on any trade," Davis said in September. 'Nuf said.

Wow, me and you disagree on just about everything. This would be a huge blunder on the Raiders part if they were to accept such a stupid deal. Why do you think Davis offered next years number one pick as opposed to this years number one pick for Seymore? A big part of the reason is that next year's draft does not appear to be that deep at all - especially in comparison to this year's. The fear of a restructured rookie pay scale has scared many talented player to come out early - just in case a deal is reached. Moreover, this unnamed team could have a late first round pick, which would be even worse. Bah, this is almost as ridiculous as trading for McNabb. Keep the pick and draft Clausen - if available.

Look at this deal again, in essence, the Raiders would be trading out of an early first round pick this year (in a good class) for (possibly) a late first rounder next year and a second round pick (possibly late too) in a shallow class.
