Well, the DHB pick was nothing short of ridiculous, as we could have EASILY had him later, not to mention we pssed on severalprospects who, IMO, would have been better. Not hating on DHB, i think he has the chance to become a great player, but that was an immense risk. We could have traded down 10 picks and gotten some more picks or atleast a player. And I'm not talking like a second rounder even, screw the value chart. I would have taken a first and a freaking third, just because we would have had an extra pick and STILL gotten the same player. DHB is fine... but at 7, and passing on some other players to get him, angers me. So, I leave that pick alone.
But one pick that really made me think was the Mitchell pick. Now, not many of us have watched him in games or stuff, and we don't have film on what he does bad, but this is the closest I could find:

about 10 minutes of Mike Mitchell to chew on.
He does seem to play far from the line at times... has a good nose for the ball and reads routes pretty well as far as I can see. Seems adept at chasing runners down. But he can als play in the box, close to the line, and make the tackle without whiffing like most of our defense... that embarrassing 60 something yard run Carolna shoved down our throats comes to mind.
Now, one thing I hear a lot is that he doesn't wrap up, and from the other highlight video I saw, that seems true. NFL WRs/TEs are tougher than the competition Mike faced in college, and Mike basically just wrecked them all with his hits. However, I do see him wrap up in a few tackles, and he does it well. I am thinking his tackling, with some PROPER coaching, should be fine. This is not Michael Huff type hitting. Once again, Ido not have legitimate film, so we turn to the next best thing in Youtube.

Even in college it has seemed like Huff's tackles were almost like he hugged the ballcarrier around the chest, then pushed back, fidgeted, or just somehow tried to bring them down. Theyre scattered all throughout the vid, watch the whole thing or the first minute to notice. 5:50 is a perfect examle as well... a ballhwak he was, hitter/tacker he wasnt
Anyhow, this isnot a mike huff thread so i leave that topic...
Now, I do feel mitchell will pan out to be a solid FS, and I'm just banking on Tyvon to do well at SS.
Now to adress the pick we took him a. Chung was gone, leaving Vaughn and Mitchell... Now, I like Vaughn too, he is a solid tackler and a good football player overall. Does not hit as hard as Mitchell, but does show great form and played better competition. Would I have taken Mitchell over Vaughn? probably not, but then again I am a youtube analyst who hasn' seen many games of eithr players. We neede a safety and got one. I do beleive the bears would have taken him two picks later. He may have been a reach, but the kid ahs potential, and you get the player you want. I can understand this pick if we wanted Mitchell because the Bears were likely to take him. Not too bad of a pick, IMO.
anyhow, feel free to critique
