In order for anyone to gel the offensive line must gel first. :csa:

^^ This is real talk cheap. We will see how things pan out here with all the FA signings, but I have a feeling we passed up our franchise tackle in big titties mcgee. If Henderson don't step up, and BArnes ends up being as bad at pass protection as he was last year for the Jags, it'll be a longgg year.

I'm willing to put money down that says Henderson beats Barnes out at LT. The question is, do they immediately move Barnes over to RT once they see Henderson is best suited for LT?

I'm not so sure Pears vs. Green is what they're hoping for lol

It really could go either way, yay. I know Barnes' strong point seems to be run blocking while Henderson did his best in stopping the pass rush last year. Obviously you'd like your stronger pass protector at LT, and we run off RT and RG a lot it seems. So you may be right. I think they would swing the RT over to left if the LT was injured, and Pears would then be the RT. As far as Green, he may not get past MArtin this year.

we all thought the same thing going into 08': "No way Green beats out Henderson and McQ at RT..."

I sure hope it isn't the same deal this year

I agree Don the game is won in the trenches and we did nothing to improve our offensive and defensive line. We passed on some top offensive and defensive linemen.

I don't have much faith in our offensive line Yay and think we f*cked up by passing on those good LT's. :csa:

I can't front csa, I think we did a lot to improve our O-line in FA, by swapping centers and bringing in a starter caliber T in Barnes and a solid backup in Pears. M. Johnson should make a decent transistion to a backup guard too. But yeah, Henderson is the wild card this year, and a franchise tackle would have put the cherry on top. But hey, at least we Russell a few new targets.

The D-line on the other hand befuddles me how we didnt address that, other than a bunch of undersized situational pass rushers.

This is the kinda discussions we need to be havin' here. The O-line blocked fairly well for the run last year, but have been tryin' to grasp the zone blocking. I will keep the faith and wait and see. With either Jam Rock or Garcia, we have guys who can get outside the pocket and make plays. This will hopefully keep the DE's on their toes.

I'm interested in seeing the tackle James Marten play, we didn't get to see him play a down last season, I read some good things about him around draft time last year, his only draw back was that he was cocky and didn't take direction well cuz he thought his way is the right way, not sure if that is good or bad, hopefully he learns to take direction.
